Hubert Davis and his UNC Basketball staff are shifting their focus to the 2023 recruiting class after picking up four commitments in 2022. Barring a surprise, it looks like the Tar Heels 2022 class is wrapped up, hence the newly shifted focus to future classes.

On Thursday night, UNC added another prospect to their recruiting board by offering an intriguing four-star prospect out of the state of Georgia. And the Tar Heels continue to target some backcourt prospects as well.

Point guard London Johnson is the latest prospect to earn a scholarship offer from North Carolina, announcing the offer via his Twitter account on Thursday. Here is the tweet he posted:

Johnson is the seventh prospect to earn an offer from Davis and the Tar Heels in the 2023 class, and the second point guard joining five-star Robert Dillingham.

The 6-foot-4, 165-pound point guard is a Norcross, Georgia native that is ranked No. 35 overall, No. 8 point guard, and No. 3 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings. He has a total of 13 offers in his recruitment so far, gaining interest from Arizona State, Auburn, Georgetown, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Ole Miss and UNC among others.

UNC has yet to land a commitment in the 2023 class but is starting to prioritize recruits as evident by recent visits on the recruiting trail as well as offers. There hasn’t been a report of UNC visiting Johnson lately, but with the new offer we imagine that a visit will happen down the line and potentially an official visit on campus too.

Johnson is certainly a prospect we will continue to watch moving forward especially with the interest that UNC now has.
