Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program currently have a Top 3 recruiting class for the 2022 cycle as they landed four commitments in the head coaches’ first class. With the four commitments, the Tar Heels are likely done with that 2022 class barring any surprises.

And now the focus shifts over to the 2023 class where UNC has six offers out to recruits.

Davis and his staff have been out on the recruiting trail over the past few weeks, visiting those 2023 targets while watching some open gyms. But now, they are set to host their first official visit for a prospect in the 2023 class.

Per Adam Zagoria, 2023 five-star point guard Simeon Wilcher has set an official visit to North Carolina on October 8th:

The visit for UNC will be the first official visit from a prospect in the 2023 class, this Fall which is a good start for Davis and his staff. UNC has zeroed in on five-star guard Robert Dillingham as their top target but exploring options at the position just in case is never a bad thing.

Wilcher has a total of 13 offers in his recruitment and is drawing significant interest from programs like UNC, UCONN, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Kansas and Miami among others.

Both Duke and Kentucky have also shown interest but have yet to offer.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Wilcher is ranked No. 11 overall, No. 2 combo guard and the No. 3 player in the state of New Jersey per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. UNC was also in to visit him a week ago, making the trip to New Jersey to see him along with a few other coaches that are showing interest.

We will keep a close eye on Wilcher as he is starting to become a priority recruit for the Tar Heels in the 2023 class.
