Mack Brown and the UNC Football program picked up their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season, beating Virginia in Chapel Hill with a dominant second half. After falling behind at halftime, UNC used that big second half to propel themselves to their win by holding the Cavaliers to  just 11 points in the final two quarters.

But despite their win, the Tar Heels didn’t move up in the latest Associated Top 25 Poll that was released on Sunday afternoon.

UNC stayed put in the latest rankings at No. 21 in the newest poll despite beating the previous 2-0 Cavaliers. But with other results on Saturday, it wasn’t enough for the Tar Heels to climb the rankings. UNC also fell in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, dropping from No. 19 to No. 20 despite the win.

Alabama retained their top spot in the AP Poll after a scare from Florida on the road as did Georgia at No. 2 with a win over South Carolina. But Oregon moved up to No. 3 with Oklahoma falling to No. 4 while Iowa stayed put at No. 5.

Penn State jumped to No. 6 with their win over Auburn while Texas A&M checked in at No. 7 followed by No. 8 Cincinnati, No. 9 Clemson and No. 10 Ohio State.

The ACC had just two teams total in the poll with Virginia Tech and Miami both falling out after losses on Saturday. It’s only Clemson and North Carolina for now as the league has struggled to start the season.

Next. UNC's defense answered the call in the second half. dark
