The UNC Football program is looking to build off their win over Georgia State last week and earn their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the year. After losing to Virginia Tech in the opener, the Tar Heels need to pretty much win out to have a shot at winning the Coastal Division.

And that goal begins on Saturday with their home game against Virginia.

UNC will be looking for some revenge, dropping four-straight to the Cavaliers in the South’s Oldest Rivalry including being upset on Halloween last year. As UNC prepares for this game, they might be getting back a key member of their secondary as well.

Defensive coordinator Jay Bateman met the media earlier this week to discuss the upcoming matchup and revealed that the Tar Heels could get defensive back Storm Duck back for this one.

UNC lost DaeDae Hollins for the season in their secondary after he suffered an injury in the win over Georgia State. But getting Duck back this week would be a boost to their secondary, one that has struggled at times this season.

The sophomore was primed for a breakout season here in 2021 after playing in just two games last season. He was hurt during UNCs win over Boston College and hasn’t played since. But Duck has been practicing lately and Bateman said that they will continue to evaluate him as the week goes on, making it sound like he will be a game-time decision on Saturday.

Duck played in all 13 games, starting nine in his freshman season back in 2019 recording five PBU’s and two interceptions, showing signs of being a key piece in their secondary for years to come.

Getting Duck on the field Saturday would be huge for UNC as they are going up against Brennan Armstrong who is off to a hot start for Virginia.
