Mack Brown and the UNC Football program will soon find out their fate for a big four-star recruiting target in the 2022 class.

With a good start to the 2022 class already, Brown and his staff are hoping to add more at some key positions. And one of those positions is at running back with four-star George Pettaway being the top target on their board there.

On Monday, Pettaway announced that he has set a decision date for when he will pick between his list of schools, setting that for Wednesday, September 22nd. Pettaway will make his decision at his high school, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, live on CBS Sports HQ at 6:30 p.m. EDT.

The Virginia native is set to decide between UNC, Penn State, Florida and Oregon after receiving a total of 26 offers in his recruitment.

As it stands right now, the Tar Heels appear to be the early favorites to land Pettaway after making a big impression on him this Summer in his recruitment. They currently hold all four crystal ball predictions on 247Sports, giving them an early edge according to the analysts.

Pettaway earned some big time offers from programs like Penn State, Florida and Oregon in his recruitment but it does appear as if UNC has done enough to win a big recruiting battle over those teams.

The 5-foot-11,190-pound Pettaway is ranked No. 98 overall, No. 7 running back and the No. 4 player in the state of Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. If he does commit to UNC next week, he will be the second-highest rated recruit in their class behind Travis Shaw who is No. 4 overall.
