UNC Basketball: Tar Heels set to visit Top 10 recruit on Tuesday
By Zack Pearson
Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program were back out on the recruiting trail last week, meeting with prospects from the 2023 class as they start to put an emphasis for that recruiting cycle.
After the Tar Heels visited a few targets and even 2022 commitments, they will be back on the road again this week and a few intriguing five-star targets are set to get visits.
Per Jake Weingarten of StockRisers, the Tar Heels are expected to be visiting five-star combo guard Simeon Wilcher out of Roselle, New Jersey:
The Tar Heels will be one of the teams in to see Wilcher, with Ohio State being another program visiting on Tuesday. As Weingarten notes, it will also be Hubert Davis in to see him.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Wilcher is a combo guard that is ranked No. 10 overall, the No. 2 combo guard and No. 3 player in the state of New Jersey. He has a total of of 13 offers in his recruitment so far including one from the Tar Heels. He’s one of just six offers for Davis and his staff in the 2023 cycle so far and he could become a priority recruit.
Other programs that have offered Wilcher so far including Auburn, UCONN, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Kansas, Oregon, and Ohio State among others.
Davis and his staff would love to land at least one guard in this class and have only offered one other guard in Robert Dillingham.
It’s tough to say who is the favorite early on for Wilcher in his recruitment but it’s a good sign to see UNC out there recruiting him as that shows that they are certainly interested in him and could put the full court press on him eventually.
