The UNC Football program got back on track Saturday with a big win over Georgia State in what was a ‘get right’ game. After losing to Virginia Tech in Week 1, the Tar Heels bounced back and now sit at 1-1 before getting into the meat of their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule beginning with Virginia next week.

And when UNC and Virginia meet, the Tar Heels will still be a ranked program.

UNC moved up in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll on Sunday. The Tar Heels moved up three spots in the AP Poll from No. 24 to No. 21 following the win on Saturday. In the Coaches Poll, UNC moved back inside the Top 20 to No. 19.

After UNC fell back in the polls from No. 10 to just barely making it, the win over Georgia State did help their case a little. Now they just have to build on this and continue to climb the rankings moving forward.

The Tar Heels are one of three ACC teams in the Coaches Poll and one of four in the AP Top 25 poll this week. Clemson led  the way appearing at No. 6 in both, followed by Virginia Tech, then UNC and finally Miami. The Hurricanes were left out of the Coaches Poll this week despite a win.

In the AP Poll, Alabama took the top spot followed by No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Oregon and No. 5 Iowa. Both the Ducks and Hawkeyes shot up into the Top 5 with big road wins over Top 10 opponents last week. Clemson, Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Ohio State and Penn State round out the Top 10 in the AP Poll.

UNC returns to action next weekend as they host 2-0 Virginia in Chapel Hill for their second home game of the season.
