Thursday provided college coaches with the chance to hit the road and check out recruiting targets they have on their big boards as the next phase of the recruiting period is off and running. And for UNC Basketball head coach Hubert Davis, he took advantage of it in a hurry.

The NCAA allowed coaches to go out and watch practices and meet with prospects in their homes and Davis took a few trips on Thursday. They are expected to continue to visit prospects and show interest as they build up their recruiting board with top targets.

Among them was a trip to see five-star power forward G.G. Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina on Thursday to watch an open practice:

Jackson is entering his senior year at Ridge View High School and the Tar Heels were one of the teams in attendance to watch an open practice. Joining Davis was Tony Bennett (Virginia) and members of South Carolina’s staff as all three programs are in pursuit of the talented recruit out of South Carolina.

North Carolina offered Jackson earlier this Summer as he was one of the first recruits the program officially offered in this class. As time has gone on, it’s clear that Davis and his staff are prioritizing Jackson as one of their top targets and would love to pair him with someone like Robert Dillingham in the 2023 class.

Jackson has a total of 13 offers in his recruitment with Clemson, DePaul, Duke, Florida State, Tennessee, NC State, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Wake Forest among others also showing interest. We fully expect UNC to continue to pursue Jackson and he’s a prospect we will certainly keep our eyes on moving forward in this recruitment.
