The recruitment for UNC Basketball target Zion Cruz has taken a few twists and turns this Summer. Most recently with Cruz setting decision two dates and then cancelling them in the matter of a two-week span.

A few weeks back, Cruz listed his first decision date and in doing so named Auburn, Creighton and UNC as his three finalists. But after canceling his decision moment on Sunday, the five-star recruit has now made a new update to his recruitment.

Cruz took to Instagram to reveal that he’s re-opening his recruitment and will hear from more schools before making a decision:

The 6-foot-5, 175-pound guard out of New Jersey has a total of 20 offers in his recruitment so far and is ranked No. 16 nationally, the No. 3 shooting guard and No. 1 player in the state per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He’s taken two visits, including one to Auburn so far in his recruitment.

Many believed that Auburn was the team to beat both times when he set his decision as they picked up some Crystal Ball predictions. But with his recruitment open again, it doesn’t appear as if there is a favorite right now.

North Carolina did offer Cruz back in the Summer and there was even a report that he was in the process of setting up an official visit. That didn’t happen and with no visit, his recruitment on UNC’s side never really got going over the past few months, leaving doubts as to how interested Davis and his staff are in Cruz.

We will continue to monitor Cruz and his recruitment through the Fall but we imagine that UNC likely won’t be in the running or pursuing him hard down the stretch here.

Next. Is this 4-star UNC target leaning to an ACC rival?. dark
