This wasn’t the start to the 2021 season that the UNC Football program had hoped for after a pretty hyped offseason. The No. 10 Tar Heels went into Blacksburg and were hit in the mouth and never really recovered, losing to the Hokies 17-10.

UNC’s stay in the Top 10 was short-lived and while they should still be ranked come Monday, they will find themselves towards the bottom of the rankings.

But the football field might not have been the only loss for the Tar Heels on Friday night. At least for one fan.

A video is going viral of a UNC fan charging into a section of Lane Stadium filled with Hokies’ fans, challenging one to a fight. By the time he gets up to the fan, there is a group of fans up there ready to duke it out with him.

Watch as this brave Tar Heels’ fan runs up to the section seeing red and ready to fight:

Look, this takes some balls knowing you’re one of just a few UNC fans probably near that section or relatively close. Thankfully, there was an officer there to stop this before it got even more out of hand.

I never really understood why fans fight during games especially since you’re likely to get kicked out when caught. The mixture of a wild environment, fans back and the frustrating play of the Tar Heels, I guess I can see it in this situation. But it’s still not right.
