The upcoming high school basketball season will return to a somewhat normal schedule with tournaments back on some were postponed last season due to COVID-19. And for the UNC Basketball program, they will be able to watch some of their top recruiting targets in action.

While the new season doesn’t start for a few more months, we are getting news on tournaments now including teams and players that will be participating. Among the biggest tournaments across the country is the Holiday Hoopsgiving showcase in Atlanta, featuring some of the top teams and top talent.

This year, UNC’s top target in 2023 will be one of those top talents on display as Robert Dillingham and Combine Academy out of Charlotte were named to the 2021 field earlier this week.

Combine Academy is projected to be a Top 25 team with the likes of Dillingham running the show at point guard and will face some tough competition in the form of Wasatch Academy (UT), Southern California Academy (CA), and Real Salt Lake Academy (UT). The list of talent also includes Chris Livingston, ZIon Cruz, Collin Chandler, Isaiah Collier and Jordan Walsh among others.

Dillingham has been one of UNC’s top targets overall since the Tar Heels offered him on Christmas Eve back in 2020. From there, the Tar Heels emerged as the favorites for the in-state prospect with many thinking the only way he doesn’t end up in Chapel Hill is if he goes the pro route.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Dillingham is ranked No. 10 overall, No. 2 point guard and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 19 offers in his recruitment and took a few unofficial visits over the Summer including to UNC.
