Class of 2023 guard and North Carolina native Robert Dillingham is already a player to keep an eye on in the coming years in terms of his talent. The five-star guard is drawing significant interest from the UNC Basketball program as well as others early on, and that should continue as his junior year of high school moves forward.

But on Monday, Dillingham received some more praise in the form of a spot on the USA Basketball Men’s U16 Team.

The guard was one of 12 players named to the U16 team to represent USA Basketball 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. Dillingham made the cut after there were 27 players initially invited to the training camp in in Houston over the weekend.

Joining Dillingham on the 12-man roster is Jeremy Fears , Kylan Boswell, Liam McNeeley, David Castillo, Jalen Lewis , Jaylen Curry, Ronald Holland, Ian Jackson, Justin McBride, Ryan Jones Jr., and Bryson Tucker.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Dillingham is ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 10 player overall, No. 2 point guard and No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 19 offers in his recruitment so far with UNC being one of those programs to show early interest.

But over the past few months programs like N.C. State, Duke, Auburn, Clemson and Florida have also shown interest in the talented recruit.

There’s a long way to go in Dillingham’s recruitment but the general consensus is that the Tar Heels are the team to beat with the pro route being their biggest competition early on.

The FIBA Americas U16 Championship will take place in Xapala, Mexico from August 23-29 and we will keep our eye on Dillingham during the event.
