UNC Basketball Alumni: Nassir Little wont play in NBA Summer League
By Zack Pearson
With the NBA draft complete, the next step in the offseason is the annual Summer League in Las Vegas as teams descend on Sin City to get a look at the new wave of talent. But while many former UNC Basketball players are set to compete, Nassir Little was a late scratch from the start of Summer League.
Originally, Little was added to the Portland Trailblazers Summer League roster as he is going into his third season. But with games underway, the talented forward has been removed and will not participate.
Per reports, the Blazers were impressed enough in his workouts to decide not to play him:
The former first-round pick of the 2019 NBA Draft hasn’t had his breakout season yet for the Trailblazers but has shown some promise in the playing time he’s received. The 21-year-old Little is a candidate to take a big jump in year three, similar to how C.J. McCollum, Gary Trent, Allen Crabbe and Jake Layman.
Little is averaging 4.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game in 96 career games while shooting 45 percent from the field. He’s also battled a few injuries in his career that has limited him a bit.
It’s a little disappointing we wont see Little in the Summer League but it’s for a good reason as this is a positive sign that he’s progressing with his game and the Blazers like what they see early on this offseason.
