Mack Brown and the UNC Football program took a big step forward in their pursuit of a four-star running back int eh 2022 class on Sunday night.

Virginia native George Pettaway is one of the top targets for the Tar Heels in the 2022 class and he made a big update to his recruitment. Pettaway trimmed his list of 26 offers down to just a top four as he announced he will be focusing on North Carolina, Penn State, Florida and Oregon.

The recruit posted this video to officially announce his top four:

This is great news for the Tar Heels who are hoping to build on their impressive start for their 2022 recruiting class. As it stands right now, UNC has a top 20 class for the 2022 cycle after landing a few commitments in the month of July.

But Brown and his staff are nowhere near done in terms of adding to the class and they hope that Pettaway can be a part of it.

Pettaway is ranked No. 100 overall, the No. 7 running back and the No. 4 player in the state of Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. Right now, UNC does appear to be the team to beat in his recruitment holding the long crystal ball prediction on 247Sports which was made by national recruiting analyst Steve Wilftfong.

The crystal ball doesn’t guarantee a commitment for the Tar Heels bit it’s usually a pretty good indicator of where teams stand in the recruitment of players. There is no set commitment date for Pettaway’s decision just yet but with him cutting down his list to four, one could be coming soon.
