UNC Basketball: Reggie Bullock headed south on new three-year deal
Former UNC basketball sharpshooter Reggie Bullock is headed to the Dallas Mavericks on a new three-year deal.
Veteran small forward Reggie Bullock is headed to the Dallas Mavericks on a new three-year deal worth $30.5 million, as first reported by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Marc Stein.
The Mavericks also locked down veteran shooting guard Tim Hardaway, Jr. to a new contract, and brought in unrestricted free agent and former Houston Rockets wing Sterling Brown. In doing so, the Mavericks signed three players on Monday that shot better than 39 percent from beyond the arc last season.
Bullock, one of the New York Knicks’ best shooters during the 2020-21 campaign, knocked down 41 percent of his attempts from long-range. He started 64-of-65 games last season — both career-highs — while logging the second-most minutes per game of his career (30.0). The former Tar Heel, who’s set to join his sixth team in nine years, averaged 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, and shot a Knicks-best 90.9 percent from the free throw line. He also had career-highs in both made and attempted three-pointers last year (163-for-398).
Bullock will, no doubt, get plenty of opportunities on the Dallas perimeter thanks to 7-foot-3-inch Kristaps Porzingis in the low post, and All-NBA point guard Luka Doncic drawing multiple defenders no matter where he goes.
