With the NBA officially wrapping up the draft last week, the next event on the calendar is the free agency period for the league. And for one former UNC Basketball standout, he could find a new home early on.

Sharpshooter Danny Green is already involved in some rumors and is being connected to another Eastern Conference team just ahead of the legal negotiation period on Monday. Per Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, the Miami Heat are expected to have interest in the forward this offseason hoping to add some much-needed depth to the position.

The 34-year-old Green was traded to Philadelphia last offseason after winning a title with the Los Angeles Lakers in the bubble. But Green never really shined in Philadelphia and honestly, didn’t appear to like playing for the organization or its fans.

So it’s safe to say that he won’t be back in Philadelphia next season.

With Miami, Green would add some depth to the team and bring a veteran presence. The roster already features Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, a good core to build around. Adding veteran depth with a shooter like Green would be a big boost.

Green is going into his 13th season in the NBA after spending four seasons at North Carolina and capping it off with a national championship. In those 13 seasons, Green is averaging 9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game but has been one of the best three-point shooters in that span, shooting 40.1 percent from there.

That includes a career-best 43 percent in the 2011-12 season with the San Antonio Spurs. Green just needs to find a team where he can come off the bench and be a contributor with his scoring and Miami just might be that best fit for him.
