The Tar Heels are still in search of their first commitment from a 5-star small forward since October of 2017 when Nassir Little gave his pledge to Roy Williams and the University of North Carolina. Hubert Davis will try to end that streak with a signature from Chris Livingston, a senior at Buchtel High School and one of the top players in the class of 2022.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing is ranked fifth overall according to the 247Sports Composite, and second among small forwards. He’s the fourth-ranked prospect in the latest Rivals150, and the consensus No. 1 player from the state of Ohio.

Accordingly, Livingston has scholarship offers from a handful of the best college basketball programs in the nation, including Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Memphis and Ohio State. So the Tar Heels, who extended an offer to Livingston in early April, have their work cut out for them. The standout wing from Akron, Ohio will continue to receive offers in the coming months, and competition just to make his list of finalists will be steep. And it makes sense when you consider everything Livingston brings to the table.

Livingston has fantastic size and athleticism, both of which he uses to his advantage on the basketball court. He’s an excellent finisher in the painted area, and on the low blocks. He’s a good all-around scorer — though his long-distance shooting is an area of improvement — but excels in space and when he’s got a head of steam. He’s a solid distributor and rebounder, and should be able to guard multiple positions at the college level. His motor and propensity for getting ahold of 50/50 balls will certainly be appreciated, too.

There are currently no Crystal ball predictions for Livingston’s future whereabouts, but there are four Rivals FutureCast projections in favor of the Memphis Tigers.
