Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program were one of the latest teams to get involved with four-star center Kyle Filipowski. The Tar Heels recently offered the recruit who is drawing interest from some major programs but they may have been too late to the party.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound prospect out of Wilbraham, Massachusetts continues to impress coaches, analysts and scouts with his recent play. He has a total of 25 offers and has made six visits so far in his recruitment.

Over the weekend, Filipowski participated in the Atlantic City Jam Fest with a crowd of coaches watching him. Following the event, the talented recruit talked to Dushawn London of 247 Sports to break down his recruitment. He offered his insight on a few teams in his recruitment but didn’t talk about UNC. However, he did offer some insight as to what he’s looking for in a program, mentioning not only basketball but academics as well:

"“When it comes to my decision, academics, what a school has to offer basketball wise, how I feel about the school in general, and my relationship with the coaches are all important to me,” he said."

Filipowski hasn’t offered much in terms of a commitment date or who his leaders exactly are, but there could be some bad news for the Tar Heels. As it stands right now, the Blue Devils hold all six predictions for the center on the 247Sports crystal ball.

After visiting Duke, many believe that Filipowski was impressed enough that the Blue Devils are the early leader in the clubhouse.

The good news for UNC is that there is still time in this recruitment. The bad news? It appears as if they have to make up some ground and getting him on campus for a visit would be a good first step for them.

Next. Will UNC eventually show interest in 2024 prospect?. dark
