It has been announced that former UNC basketball stars Kennedy Meeks and PJ Hairston will be taking their talents to The Basketball Tournament.

The TBT is an annual tournament that gives players a chance to not only showcase their talents, but also bring home a shared prize of one million dollars. The march-madness, single-elimination style has had some exciting moments since it first debuted in 2014. Both Meeks and Hairston had their moments when they played for the UNC basketball program and are expected to do the same for team CP3.

Meeks was a part of the UNC basketball program from 2013 to 2017 helping lead the Heels to a national championship his senior year. During that time at Carolina, Meeks appeared in 144 games, 117 of which he started, averaging 10.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. Meeks won the 2013-2014 Atlantic Coastal Coast All-Freshman award and was rewarded his senior season with the 2017 NCAA All-tournament honors. Meeks currently is ranked 10th all-time in ACC history for games he played in and sits 7th all-time in defensive rebounds with 645.

Hairston played only two seasons for the UNC basketball program, but when he did play his impact was felt. During his freshman season he only averaged 13 minutes per game, however, that following season his minutes jumped up to 23.6 as he became a scoring threat. In that second season with the UNC basketball program, he averaged 14.6 points leading the team in points despite ranking 5th in minutes played. After that season Hairston took his talents to the NBA where he got drafted in the 1st round with pick 26 playing for the Hornets and then Memphis the following season.

The TBT kicks off June 21st with the selection show to see exactly which region team CP3 will be playing in. Fans can watch these former Tar Heels compete for the shared prize of one million dollars beginning July 16th.
