UNC Basketball: Hubert Davis, Tar Heels offer 2023 power forward
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have extended an offer to 4-star power forward Gregory Jackson.
First-year North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis has extended his latest scholarship offer to class of 2023 power forward Gregory Jackson. It’s the second such offer that Davis and the Tar Heels have extended to a 2023 prospect, the first having gone to Combine Academy’s Robert Dillingham, a 5-star point guard and the nation’s No. 11 recruit.
Jackson, who got word of the offer via a phone call from Davis on Tuesday night, is a consensus 4-star prospect and one of the top-ranked front court players in the class. The 6-foot-8, 210-pound junior from Columbia, South Carolina is the No. 30 prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s even higher in the Rivals150 at No. 26 overall, approaching 5-star status as he nears his second-to-last season of high school ball.

With his latest off from North Carolina, Jackson adds to a list of schools that includes Georgetown, LSU, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee and Virginia Tech, among others. That list will, no doubt, continue to grow over the coming year or so as Jackson impresses scouts and coaches with his tremendous play on the hardwood.
Along with his solid size and wingspan, Jackson is a good athlete with a versatile skillset. He’s got really nice handles — particularly for a power forward — and he’s good at running the floor and can even lead the fast break. He can put the ball on the floor and get into the lane for easy buckets. He’s also a strong finisher around the rim, and can guard multiple positions on the defensive end of the court.
We don’t expect a commitment or even a list of finalists from Jackson any time soon, but we will continue to follow his recruitment in the months ahead. Don’t be surprised if he ends up with offers from many of the nation’s top basketball programs, or if he adds an additional star to his ranking.
