Former UNC Basketball standout Day’Ron Sharpe is hoping to improve his draft stock as the countdown continues

The 2021 NBA Playoffs continue to march on as we get set to move on to the Conference Finals soon. But for the rest of the league, the focus has shifted to the 2021 NBA Draft with the lottery being held on June 22nd.

The lottery will determine the order for the teams that did not make the playoffs and will have huge implications for some of the most talented players entering the draft that should hear their name called early on.

But for one former UNC Basketball standout, he’s hoping to improve that draft stock as we get closer and closer to draft day.

Former five-star recruit Day’Ron Sharpe opted to leave the Tar Heels after one season and declare for the NBA draft. It doesn’t appear as if Sharpe had any plans to return after just the one season especially with the chance to go pro. However, his draft stock currently isn’t in the first round at least according to two analysts.

CBS Sports draft writers Kyle Boone and Gary Parrish released their latest first-round mock drafts ahead of next month’s draft. The bad news for Sharpe is that neither had him in the first round of their mock.

During the season, Sharpe saw his stock move up and down a bit and was even considered a first-round pick at one point. But since then, it appears as if it’s taken a tumble a bit. Now, the good news is that he’s very likely going to hear his name called during the draft as a second-round pick and he could potentially sneak into that late first-round.

The center could use this as motivation to prove the doubters wrong when he does get to the league, adding some more fuel to his fire.
