March 6, 2021: UNC 91, Duke 73

Little did we know at the time that this would be the last meeting between legendary coaches Roy Williams and Coach K.

Williams would announce his retirement just a few weeks later but ended his coaching career on a high note, sweeping the regular-season series in 2021 including a 91-73 win in the Dean Dome for a victorious senior night.

Following a gritty win at Duke a month earlier on February 6th, the Tar Heels were in position for a sweep and potentially boost their NCAA Tournament resume. They did just that as they controlled the entire game from the start essentially dominating Duke in every aspect.

The Tar Heels opened up a 16-point lead at halftime, UNC cruised to a victory led by Armando Bacot’s 18-point and 6-rebound performance. Freshmen Kerwin Walton and Caleb Love added 18 a piece as well, while senior Garrison Brooks finished with 14.

After the game, Williams went to kiss center court in the Dean Dome and played it off as a way of thanking the fans and the court after a tough season. But little did we know he would be hanging it up and that was his last home game as a Tar Heel.

And what a way it was to go out.
