March 5th, 2011: UNC 81, Duke 67

The 2010-11 Tar Heels team was coming off a disappointing season prior in which they went to the NIT. But a strong recruiting class led by No. 1 overall recruit Harrison Barnes offered some optimism.

UNC made the switch to go to Kendall Marshall at point guard in the middle of the season and it worked out as the Tar Heels propelled to near the top of the ACC standings. After Duke won the first meeting in Durham, the second meeting between the two teams was set up to be a showdown with the regular season ACC title on the line. Both teams entered at 13-2 in conference play but it was the No. 13 Tar Heels that got the last laugh over No. 4 Duke in what would be a 81-67 win at the Dean Dome.

Barnes led the way with 18 points while Marshall finished with 15 points and 11 assists. The Tar Heels defense held Duke to just 36 percent shooting on the night while UNC shot 52 percent from the field.
