On April 1, former UNC Basketball head coach Roy Williams shocked the college basketball world by announcing his retirement as the program will usher in a new era under Hubert Davis. Just two months later, UNC’s top rival also announced a future coaching coach.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that he will retire following the 2021-22 college basketball season.  Former Duke standout Jon Scheyer is set to take over for Coach K and the UNC/Duke rivalry will look a little different over the next decade or so.

The two teams have battled for decades featuring some classic battles that went down to the wire or featured historic performances. The Tar Heels lead the all-time series 141–114 and have won two-straight against their hated rivals. But over the past 30 years, Duke has been able to close the gap a bit and make this an even bigger rivalry due to Coach K and the success he’s found with the program.

With the announcement that Coach K is retiring, we decided to look back at some of the best wins for the Tar Heels against Duke with Krzyzewski as head coach.
