4-star prospect Justin Taylor has an upcoming visit with the UNC basketball program, but earning his commitment will be no easy task for the Tar Heels.

Class of 2022 wing Justin Taylor’s recruitment has continued to intensify over the past several months, with more and more high-major programs getting involved.

That’s evidenced by scholarship offers from Virginia, North Carolina and Florida since early December. And those are in addition to more than a dozen other offers from the likes of Butler, Georgetown, Indiana, Marquette, Maryland, NC State, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. So, it goes without being said that earning a commitment from Taylor will be a tall order.

A 6-foot-6, 205-pound senior out of St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia, Taylor talked to TarHeelIllustrated following a Friday night performance at the CP3 Memorial Classic that saw him score 21 points and hit 2-of-3 shots from beyond the arc to go along with 5-of-6 at the free throw line.

"“To really get a better understanding of what Coach Davis is about, see the campus in person for the first time, to see the facilities and everything and everything like that,” Taylor said of what he’s hoping to get out of his first official visit to North Carolina in June. “I’m excited for that.”"

Taylor also highlighted the Tar Heels’ plans for him should he ultimately commit there. And speaking of his commitment, that’s a decision that he expects to make some time between mid-to-late summer. Between now and then, Hubert Davis and his coaching staff appear to be set on doing whatever it takes to get Taylor’s pledge — one that could greatly help them on the perimeter over the next few years thanks to his terrific size and shot-making abilities.

Taylor is ranked 86th in the 247Sports Composite. He’s No. 21 among small forwards, and fifth in the state of Virginia. He’s ranked substantially higher in the Top247, where he comes in at No. 56 overall and 12th among players at his position. He’s ranked similarly in the updated Rivals150, where he is now pegged as the No. 54 prospect in the class of 2022.
