Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program could have a battle on their hands in the recruitment of 5-star small forward Chris Livingston.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are still in search of their first commitment from a 5-star small forward since Nassir Little in October of 2017, but they’ll try to end that streak with a pledge from Buchtel’s Chris Livingston.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing is among the best prospects in the class of 2022, ranked fourth overall according to the 247Sports Composite. The second-ranked small forward in the class and No. 1 overall in the state of Ohio, Livingston is a player that Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels would love to build next year’s class around. They’re going to have plenty of competition, though, and much of it from the top programs in college basketball.

He was already holding scholarship offers from the likes of Florida, LSU and Ohio State prior to recent offers from Kansas and North Carolina. Then, it was John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats that extended an offer to Livingston on Tuesday, making his recruitment a full-blown blue blood battle.

Livingston has tremendous size and athletic ability, and finishes well in the painted area and on the blocks. He’s a good slasher and can dribble well in space. He runs the court well, and gets his hands on a lot of 50/50 balls. He’s also a solid distributor, and should be able to guard multiple positions at the college level. He isn’t an excellent shooter from long-range, and he could work on his ball-handling when closely guarded or in traffic. Overall, though, Livingston is a terrific player with tons of upside.

There are currently no Crystal Ball predictions on Livingston’s future whereabouts, as things are really just beginning to heat up in his recruitment. There’s also no definitive timeline for a commitment from the talented wing, but we’ll continue to follow his recruitment throughout.
