North Carolina will shoot better from the outside

it wasn’t just Caleb Love that struggled to shoot the basketball last season. In fact, the Tar Heels were a very poor shooting team from the perimeter as a whole.

UNC finished the 2020-21 season No. 263 overall, shooting just 31.83 percent from the three-point line which is unusual for a Carolina team. They simply didn’t have a knock-down shooter to compliment Kerwin Walton who led the team by shooting 42 percent from the three-point line.

Walton developed into UNC’s best perimeter shooter but it took a bit for that to happen. He wasn’t in the starting lineup until late December and even then he was a bit up-and-down. They are not only going to need Walton to knock down shots but both Love and R.J. Davis as well.

They should also get some help from their two recruits in D’Marco Dunn and Dontrez Styles which should benefit them. Transfers Justin McKoy and Brady Manek can also provide a boost overall shooting from the field. Plus, Donovan “Puff” Johnson has an offseason to get healthy and hopefully earn some more playing time

Getting better from the field and perimeter will certainly take the pressure off the paint for the Tar Heels and open things up. Now can they do that?
