Recruiting is starting to pick up for the UNC Basketball program here in May, ahead of June where they will host three recruits for official visits.

While the Tar Heels aren’t hosting any 2022 or 2023 prospects officially this Summer, they are still adding to their recruiting board in both classes. A new prospect for the 2023 class that is seeing interest from North Carolina is four-star forward G.G. Jackson.

The Columbia, South Carolina native is ranked No. 30 overall, No. 7 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 4 offers as Clemson, South Carolina, Wake Forest and Syracuse have extended offers.

But recently a few other teams have gotten into the mix including North Carolina.

In an interview with Travis Branham of 247Sports, Jackson talked about his recruitment and where things stand at the moment. He revealed that North Carolina is a team that has been involved more, contacting him recently:

"“The recruiting process is going pretty good,” he said. “North Carolina has reached out recently and hopefully we can go on from there with that school.”“They gave me the rundown that they had been watching me and it made me feel pretty good,” he added of his communication with the Tar Heels’ program."

In addition to North Carolina, N.C. State has also been in contact recently as they are amping up their pursuit of the talented prospect.

As it stands now, the Tar Heels have one active offer out to prospects in 2023 with that belonging to five-star guard Robert Dillingham. There is still a ton of time left in that class but it’s looking like Davis and his staff are starting to get out and identify some more targets for 2023 which is great news.
