Michael Jordan’s legacy with the UNC Basketball program and the Chicago Bulls will forever live on in terms of basketball greatness. Anything from Greatest of All-Time is a hot item for collectors and he will always have value in that part of the industry.

Over the years, we have seen several items of Jordan break records in terms of prices for a final sale. Things like cards, shoes, game-worn equipment and autographs tend to be hot items. And the latest one is no different.

A North Carolina jersey worn by Jordan during the 1982-83 season just broke a record by selling for $1.38 million on Saturday with Heritage Auctions. The jersey was worn during the season that Jordan was named the NCAA player of the year by The Sporting News and is the only known  only known jersey photo-matched the cover photo from the issue.

Per ESPN, the jersey that sold was first obtained from that 1982-83 season following a game between Stanford and North Carolina. Equipment managers from the two programs swapped player jerseys following a game at Maples Pavilion during the Stanford invitational tournament.

The jersey was also up for auction back in 1999 and then sold for $63,500. The investment over the years has certainly paid off.

The traditional Carolina Blue jersey broke the previous record of a Jordan jersey sale from back in October when a game-worn Chicago Bulls jersey ended at $480,000. This one, however, is a little more unique as finding game-worn UNC stuff of Jordan is tough, especially in a season he was named the player of the year.

With a hot market for cards, Jordan memorabilia continues to break records as collectors and investors want a piece of history from an iconic figure such as Jordan.
