UNC Basketball: Coby White drops team-high 25 points in Chicago victory

Former UNC basketball standout Coby White scored a team-high 25 points in Chicago’s victory over Boston on Friday night.

Coby White tied All-Star shooting guard Zach Lavine with a team-high 25 points on Friday night, as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Boston Celtics by a final score of 121-99.

White hit 9-of-16 shots for the game, and 7-of-12 from three-point range. He also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists to just two turnovers in a team-high 33 minutes of play.

It was White’s second game of 20 or more points over his past three appearances, having notched 23 in a losing effort to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. Similar to Friday night’s game, White was hot from long-range against the 76ers, hitting 5-of-10 from downtown against Joel Embiid and company.

That’s been a common trend for White in the opening week of May, as he’s currently connecting on better than 44 percent of his threes during that stretch after hitting just 33.7 percent over the month of April.

White entered Friday night’s game averaging 14.9 points, 4.7 assists and four rebounds per game. His overall shooting percentage has improved by nearly two percent from a season ago, while his three-point accuracy has dipped slightly. He’s averaging considerably more assists and rebounds, however, while logging better than five more minutes per contest.

The Bulls have a record of 28-39 this season, and sit at third-place in the Eastern Conference’s Central Division. They’ll be back in action against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.
