With the NCAA’s recruiting dead period coming to an end in June, the focusing on recruitments will start to heat up even more. The UNC Basketball program is welcoming in a two-man class for 2021 but have yet to land a commitment in 2022 or 2023.

As Hubert Davis gets ready to enter an important Summer in terms of recruits and landing talent for their future classes, there are some top targets on UNC’s radar. Among them is five-star point guard Robert Dillingham out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dillingham landed an offer from UNC on Christmas Day under Roy Williams but the Tar Heels’ pursuit is still expected to go on under Davis. The Tar Heels are reportedly sitting in a good position for Dillingham early on in his recruitment, earning a crystal ball prediction on 247Sports from Jerry Meyer a few months back.

However, while that’s the case there is still a long way to go in his recruitment and Dillingham isn’t ruling out his options including the G-League. In his latest blog for Sports Illustrated, Dillingham offered a hint that he is keeping his options open and right now can’t rule anything out:

"I definitely want to pick up more offers this summer so I can have all the options to make the best decision. I’m open to the G League option too. I’m not closing myself off from anything at this point.I’m wide open."

With the G-League and soon-to-debut Overtime League as options, it’s not a shocker to see more recruits going with these leagues as opposed to college. It’s certainly not a shocker to see them keeping it as an option as they cut their lists as well.

It’s still super early and anything can happen but the talk of G-League isn’t the greatest news for the Tar Heels in this recruitment. And from the looks of it, that option doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon, either.
