Tar Heels In The NBA: Reggie Bullock Shines In Knicks’ Win Streak
Former UNC basketball stand out Reggie Bullock is the unsung hero of the New York Knicks’ success this season.
The New York Knicks are winning and former UNC basketball star Reggie Bullock is one of the reasons why. The fourth-seeded Knicks are currently the hottest team in the NBA with the league longest active winning streak at eight. Bullock, who’s known for his defense, has been as impactful with his offense, especially in the last five games of the eight-game winning streak.
In the last five games, Bullock has averaged 15 points per game shooting 52.9% from the field and 48.8% from behind the arch.
In those same five games, Bullock has been set up as a catch and shoot style player with 74.5% of his field goal attempts coming from catching and shooting, a formula that has worked tremendously in Bullock’s favor. The catch and shoot style proved to prevail again when Derrick Rose passed the ball to Bullock in the corner for a game tying three, which forced overtime leading to a Knicks win over the Pelicans.
Bullock, who was drafted in 2013, has moved around a bit in the league, but in just his second season with the Knicks you can tell he feels right at home. He’s averaging 28.7 minutes this season, the 2nd most minutes in his career, only 2 minutes shy from 2018 when he was a member of the Detroit Pistons. Thus far on the season he’s averaging 10.2 points per game while shooting 43.8% from the field and 40.6% from three. The Knicks will continue to look to Bullock as he’s established himself as a key player in the Knicks’ hopeful playoff run.
