For the second time in the last week, the UNC Basketball program has landed a player from the transfer portal.

After Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels were able to land former Virginia forward Justin McKoy on Saturday, the program has added another forward to their roster. Former Oklahoma forward Brady Manek committed to the Tar Heels on Friday afternoon, ending his recruitment.

Here is the message Manek posted on Twitter:

The 6-foot-9, 231-pound Manek committed to Oklahoma under Lon Kruger but after the legendary coach retired this offseason, he opted to transfer and not play under Porter Moser in Norman.  Manek averaged 10.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and just under an assist per game last season while shooting 42.2 percent from the field.

He plays a stretch four spot and should add some value to the Tar Heels’ lineup in terms of shooting the basketball, something they have struggled with over the past two seasons.

Manek received his offer from North Carolina just a few days back and had interest from several teams in his recruitment. But when it was all said and done, he felt like Friday was the perfect time to commit to the Tar Heels.

With some uncertainty about next season’s roster, Davis is starting to get his pieces in place for the future. The Tar Heels lost Walker Kessler and Garrison Brooks while Day’Ron Sharpe is leaving for the NBA. Armando Bacot is also testing the NBA Draft waters and might not be back, creating some holes in the front court.  But UNC does have some players returning including Caleb Love, R.J. Davis, Kerwin Walton, Puff Johnson and Leaky Black from last year’s team.

Adding some new faces in Manek and McKoy plus a two-man recruiting class should help.
