The UNC Basketball program will soon learn their fate for a five-star recruiting target in the 2022 class.

As head coach Hubert Davis and his staff continue to work through the transfer portal to find players for this year’s roster, a prospect in 2022 that is considering North Carolina will make his decision this week. Five-star point guard Dylan Andrews appears to be ready to commit to a program and per Tipton Edits, he’s set to make his decision on Friday.

Andrews will make his announcement sometime Friday as the Twitter account pointed out:

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard out of Los Angeles, California has a top eight of North Carolina, Arizona State, Arizona, Louisville, Kansas, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon. However, while the Tar Heels have made his top eight list they have yet to offer the recruit.

As a West Coast product, it’s hard seeing the talented Andrews leave that part of the country. He doesn’t have any crystal ball predictions on 247Sports but all signs in this recruitment point to him staying home at UCLA for now. Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State also have solid chances in this race.

With the recent coaching change and no official offer, we can pretty much count the Tar Heels out in this one. And we have to wonder how serious they were in terms of involvement for Andrews in his recruitment? Not being able to get him on campus due to the recruiting dead period did hurt their chances but with no offer, it’s hard seeing them being fully invested in him despite the need at point guard.

Andrews is currently ranked No. 33 overall, No. 6 point guard and the No. 5 player in the state of California per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. The Tar Heels will now have to turn their attention to other recruits in 2022 as they seek their first commitment in that class.
