UNC Basketball: Garrison Brooks picks up Crystal Ball predictions
Former UNC basketball standout Garrison Brooks has received his first two Crystal Ball predictions since entering the NCAA transfer portal on Friday.
It’s been just two days since Garrison Brooks announced his decision to leave the University of North Carolina via the NCAA transfer portal, and he’s already received a pair of Crystal Ball predictions from contributors on 247Sports.
It’s the Mississippi State Bulldogs that are getting all the early buzz surrounding Brooks’ relocation, picking up two predictions for the 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward on Saturday. One prediction came from 247Sports Vanderbilt publisher, Robbie Weinstein, and the other from Mississippi State insider, Paul Jones, of GenesPage.com.
Brooks to Mississippi State makes sense given that his father is an assistant coach there. It’s also where Brooks was initially committed in November of 2016 prior to his decommitment from the Bulldogs and subsequent pledge to the Tar Heels just a few weeks later.
The Bulldogs would be getting a really solid player in Brooks, who started 108 of his 133 games at North Carolina, and averaged 9.6 points and six rebounds across his four seasons in Chapel Hill. His four-year stint at UNC was highlighted by a sensational junior campaign that saw him average a career-high 16.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and two assists per game, while shooting better than 53 percent for the season.
Other schools in the running for Brooks include Arizona State, Auburn, Georgetown, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee. The market for a player as accomplished and experienced as Brooks will always be hot, and it’s been no different for the former Tar Heel in the 48 hours since his announcement.
We’ll wish Brooks luck in his future endeavors, and appreciate him for everything he gave the University of North Carolina over the past four years.
