So far, this offseason has been an active one for the UNC Basketball program as Walker Kessler and Sterling Manley are opting to transfer while Day’Ron Sharpe is heading to the NBA. For head coach Roy Williams, the future of the program is going to rely even more now on recruiting classes here in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

While UNC is pretty much set in the 2021 class with two recruits, the focus has shifted to both the ’22 and ’23 class. UNC has yet to earn a commitment in either class, which is fine because there’s a lot of time left, but they do have their eyes on some top recruits.

One of those recruits is 2023 point guard Robert Dillingham.

The in-state guard received his offer from North Carolina back on Christmas Day and since then, UNC has picked up the momentum in his recruitment. The Tar Heels are considered the favorites early on, holding a crystal ball prediction for the talented five-star prospect.

There is a long way to go in Dillingham’s recruitment but the Tar Heels aren’t putting him on the backburner, either. Instead, they are going with a full court press to land him as the recruit revealed to Sotckriser’s Jake Weingarten that Williams has recently contacted him:

Per NCAA rules, recruits can contact coaches but the coaches cannot contact recruits directly until June.

This is certainly good news for UNC fans and hopefully the Tar Heels’ chances to land the talented recruit. Keeping in contact and making strides in this recruitment is going to be key, especially with so much time left.

Dillingham is ranked No. 10 overall, No. 2 point guard and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. After a stellar sophomore season, he should see his stock continue to climb as the months go on.

Next. Will Tar Heels pursue this big transfer?. dark
