Things are good right now for Mark Few and his Gonzaga Bulldogs as they enter the 2021 NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and a perfect 26-0 record. As the favorites to win it all, the next month could be a huge one for the Bulldogs for their program.

In addition to being the favorites to cut the nets down, the Bulldogs have established themselves as the favorites for a big five-star guard in the 2021 recruiting class that happens to be a UNC Basketball target as well.

Five-star combo guard Hunter Sallis is the top remaining target left on North Carolina’s 2021 recruiting board and he’s a key recruit that could make an impact in the Tar Heels’ backcourt for the future. While both the Tar Heels and Kentucky Wildcats have been considered the favorites at one point in the recruitment, it now appears that Gonzaga is in the best shape moving forward.

Ahead of Sallis’ decision date on March 26th, Gonzaga now controls the entire crystal ball predictions on 247 Sports. They have picked up a total of 7 predictions holding 100% of them including from experts Andrew Bossi, Travis Branham and Jerry Meyer.

That’s obviously not great news for the Tar Heels.

Roy Williams currently has just two prospects in his 2021 recruiting class and with Chet Holmgren and Patrick Baldwin trending elsewhere, losing Sallis would be a blow to their class.  If Sallis does pick Gonzaga as he’s expected to, that likely wraps things up for the 2021 class outside of the potential transfers the Tar Heels could land sometime this Summer.

Sallis is ranked No. 6 overall, the No. 2 combo guard and the No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.
