The UNC basketball program is trending for a rising 4-star recruit, picking up multiple Crystal Ball predictions following the announcement of his final six schools.

Within hours of De’Ante Green announcing his list of six finalists via Twitter on Sunday afternoon, The North Carolina Tar Heels began picking up Crystal Ball predictions for the rising 2022 power forward. Most notably, the second of two predictions on 247Sports came from renown recruiting analyst Eric Bossi, who has correctly picked the college destination of nearly 97 percent of prospects since joining the site last year.

It goes without being said that Bossi’s projection of Green to UNC is a good sign for the Tar Heels, who are yet to earn a single commitment in the class of 2022. It’s even more promising and noteworthy for UNC that Bossi’s prediction came with a “high” confidence level (7 out of 10).

That the Tar Heels don’t currently have any 2022 commitments isn’t of real concern at this point, particularly since they are already involved with a number of recruits in the class, including some of the most coveted in the nation. But a commitment from the 6-foot-9, 205-pound Green would be a nice start to the recruiting cycle for Roy Williams and his staff.

The Tar Heels will have to beat out four ACC programs — Florida State, NC State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest — as well as SEC powerhouse Tennessee, in order to earn the services of Green, a 4-star prospect according to both 247Sports and ESPN.

He’s ranked 110th in the 247Sports Composite, and No. 21 among power forwards in the class. He’s ranked even higher in the Top247, where he’s currently 67th overall, and 13th among players at his position. In both cases, he’s considered the top player in the state of North Carolina. ESPN values Green similarly with a rating of 86, and as the No. 14 power forward in the class.

The Tar Heels will have to wait a while to get Green on campus, as the current NCAA recruiting dead period lasts through the month of May. If his recruitment lasts that long, however, it’s safe to assume that North Carolina will probably get an official visit from Green.
