UNC Basketball: Tar Heels make top 6 for 2022 four-star recruit
By Zack Pearson
Roy Williams and the UNC Basketball program took a step forward in terms of recruiting a four-star player in the 2022 class on Sunday.
With the 2021 class pretty much wrapping up, UNC has started to turn their focus to 2022 which will be that much more important now for the program. With more than six offers out to prospects, UNC is starting to establish their recruiting board and the top targets on it.
On Sunday, they made the latest cut for four-star forward De’Ante Green as he trimmed his list down to six finalists: UNC, Tennessee, NC State, Florida State, Virginia Tech, & Wake Forest. He made his announcement on Twitter:
The 6-foot-9, 205-pound power forward is playing his junior year at Asheville Christian Academy and the in-state recruit has become a big one for the Tar Heels. On his final six, he has five Atlantic Coast Conference teams on the list with just Tennessee the lone SEC team.
UNC will be battling out those ACC foes to land Green and secure a commitment in 2022. They officially offered him back in December and have been a legit contender since then.
Green is currently ranked No. 110 nationally, No. 21 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. He currently has no predictions on his Crystal Ball predictor but that should change in the coming months as his recruitment heats up.
The Tar Heels have yet to land a commitment in the 2022 class but Green is among those recruits that they are starting to prioritize the most here as we head into the Spring. With the recruiting dead period lasting through May, UNC will have to wait to get Green on campus.
