As the UNC Basketball program begins to close the book on the 2021 recruiting class, they will do so with two recruits signed right now in February. Both D’Marco Dunn and Dontrez Styles committed to UNC in 2020 and then signed their letter of intent in November.

This is just a two-man class but it could turn out to be a good one in terms of filling some needs for the Tar Heels moving forward. Despite being four-stars at the time of their commitment both Dunn and Styles have upped their game here in their senior seasons.

Dunn has even shot up the recruiting rankings as he’s been a scoring machine.

While UNC only has two players committed, the future is still bright and one recruiting analyst believes that Styles is a great fit for what the Tar Heels want to do. 247 Sports’ Eric Bossi wrote on 10 ideal fits for programs in the 2021 class and listed Styles among those 10.

Here’s what the said about how Styles’ game can fit what Roy Williams wants to do with his offense next season:

"Don’t expect Styles to come in and bang a bunch of deep jump shots, but he’s a willing shooter and what makes him such a necessary add is the versatility he has. While he’s a natural wing, Styles is big enough, tough enough and athletic enough to play as a small ball four if Roy Williams chooses to add a little bit of that next season. Regardless of how he is used, he’ll give the Heels more length, an athlete on the wing that they could really use and a player who has huge upside thanks to his versatility on both ends of the floor."

Styles is ranked No. 61 overall, No. 10 at his position and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.

The 6-foot-7, 205-pound Styles will give Williams a legit option on the wing coming off the bench as he will battle with Puff Johnson for playing time. The good news is that the Tar Heels will have some playing time open pending returns from Garrison Brooks or Andrew Platek. A few others could leave for the NBA, pending those decisions but Styles still should have an impact right away.

Next. 4-star center could be ideal fit for Tar Heels. dark
