Ahead of Saturday’s game against Virginia, UNC Basketball head coach Roy Williams continued his pursuit of prospects in the 2022 recruiting class.

First it was Dereck Lively announcing he had received an offer from the program via his Twitter account. But then just minutes later, another prospect in the class revealed he had also received an offer.

Four-star forward Justin Taylor announced via Twitter that he was the latest prospect to earn a scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina:

UNC Basketball starting to focus on the 2022 recruiting class with new offers out to prospects

The Charlottesville, Virginia native now joins guards Jaden Bradley and Nick Smith as well as forwards Dylan Anderson, De’Ante Green, Mark Mitchell, and Jarace Walker. Four-star center Dereck Lively also received his offer on Friday afternoon.

With the 2021 cycle looking like it will turn in just two recruits for UNC, the focus now shifts to the 2022 class where Williams and his staff are hoping to turn in a big class. So far, UNC has missed out on Skyy Clark but are in good shape for a few others on that list above. It’s still very early in the 2022 cycle, so there’s a long way to go in terms of landing prospects.

Taylor is ranked No. 86 overall, No. 19 small forward and the No. 5 player in the state of Virginia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. He now has a total of 14 offers in his recruitment, including from Virginia, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Butler, Syracuse and now UNC among others. He hasn’t really tipped his hat one way or the other and Taylor’s recruitment is certainly one to monitor moving forward in terms of UNC’s involvement.
