UNC Basketball Recruiting: Tar Heels reaching out to this 4-star
By Zack Pearson
As time has gone on, the 2022 class has become the focus for UNC Basketball recruiting as Roy Williams and his staff are hoping to reel in a big class. In 2021, the Tar Heels have two players signed and it looks like that class will be wrapped up soon.
Getting some playmakers and big recruits for 2022 is now the focus and the Tar Heels as they have a few active offers out. While they continue to evaluate the class despite a ban on travel for official visits, there are a few recruits that have really caught the program’s eyes.
Among them? Four-star power forward Isaac Traudt.
The Nebraska product has a total of 28 offers so far in his recruitment including from programs like Iowa, Creighton, Kansas, Purdue, Oklahoma, and Oregon among others. But while the Tar Heels are showing interest, they have yet to offer him.
What Traudt said about UNC Basketball recruiting him:
Traudt recently caught up with Eric Bossi of 247 Sports to update his recruitment. As of now, things are slow but he did touch on the programs that are involved right now.
"“It is a pretty similar thing there to Gonzaga. They just really want to see me play in person. They’ve been watching some games and they like my versatility and stuff like that.”"
In terms of why the Tar Heels haven’t offered him, there’s your answer. Williams and his staff are adamant on taking their time to evaluate players thoroughly before officially offering. That includes seeing them play in person.
But right now, that’s a big problem as this evaluation period is different than we have ever seen with the travel ban. The good news is that the ban could be lifted at the end of April per a decision by the NCAA. If that happens, we fully expect UNC’s staff to get out there and visit with Traudt among others.
Traudt is ranked No. 53 overall, No. 11 power forward, and the No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. We will continue to update you on Traudt’s recruitment as he has become a legit target.
