This offseason will be an exciting one for Mack Brown and his UNC Football program, entering it with high expectations following an Orange Bowl appearance last season.

In his two years, Brown has really turned this program around taking them from a 3-win team in 2017-18 to 8 wins in 2020 and that Orange Bowl. He’s also built up the program through recruiting, landing some Top 20 classes including in 2021.

As we are months away from the Spring practices, we got some big news regarding this 2021 season in terms of the schedule. On Thursday, the Atlantic Coast Conference released their 2021 schedule which filled out the Ta Heels full schedule.

UNC will open up the season on September 2nd or 3rd at Virginia Tech and close it out on the road against N.C. State. Sandwiched in-between those games are six more conference games and four non-conference games including a rematch with Notre Dame in South Bend.

Take a look at UNC’s official schedule below:

Thur., Sept. 2 or Fri., Sept. 3 at Virginia Tech
Saturday, Sept. 11 vs. Georgia State
Saturday, Sept. 18 vs. Virginia
Saturday, Sept. 25 at Georgia Tech
Saturday, Oct. 2 vs. Duke
Saturday, Oct. 9 vs. Florida State
Saturday, Oct. 16 vs. Miami
Saturday, Oct. 30 at Notre Dame
Saturday, Nov. 6 vs. Wake Forest
Thursday, Nov. 11 at Pitt
Saturday, Nov. 20 vs. Wofford
Friday, Nov. 26 at NC State

Looking above, the ones that stand out is the trip to South Bend on Halloween Weekend as well as hosting Florida State and Miami in back-to-back weeks. UNC also has a Thursday night game again against Pitt as they travel to take on the Panthers.

The Week 1 game is interesting, opening the year on the road in a conference game against Virginia Tech. UNC ended their losing streak to the Hokies last season, beating them in Chapel Hill.

We are still a long ways away from kickoff in September but it’s hard not getting excited about this season with this news.
