UNC Basketball: 5-star prospect wants offer from Tar Heels
By Zack Pearson
Roy Williams and his UNC Basketball staff are starting to see their 2022 recruiting board take shape. The Tar Heels have five active offers out in that 2022 recruiting class and have recently been in the news regarding a few recruits.
But with just five offers out, Williams and his staff are likely going to add some more as the cycle goes on. And there’s one prospect that is hoping to find himself receiving an offer from the Tar Heels eventually.
Five-star combo guard Cason Wallace is one of the top recruits in the 2022 class and currently holds a total of 16 offers. While he holds offers from Arizona, Baylor, Illinois, and Texas Tech among others, he’s hoping to eventually add some Blue Bloods to his list.
Wallace recently talked with Tipton Edits about his recruitment and the latest on it. In the interview, Wallace was asked about a few schools that have shown interest and would hope he lands an offer from.
His answer? Kentucky and North Carolina.
Wallace did go on to say that there are some schools that haven’t shown interest at all but wants to hear from. Among them was Duke, Gonzaga, Florida, Memphis, UCLA and North Texas. It’s interesting to find a prospect like Wallace that has yet to get an offer from a Blue Blood program but that could change very soon. The combo guard is ranked No. 18 overall, No. 3 combo guard and No. 2 player in the state of Texas per 247 Sports rankings.
This isn’t the first time Wallace has talked about UNC, either. Back in October he mentioned them as a school he’s heard from and would like to have show more interest in. The thing with North Carolina is that without a live evaluation period, it has held up some offers. That could change as early as April when the dead period is extended until.
