UNC Basketball sophomore guard Anthony Harris made an impact for the first time this season in limited minutes for the Tar Heels

The UNC Basketball saw their three-game win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon against Florida State, falling to 3-3 on the year. While the Tar Heels lost the game, they did show some signs of improving.

It’s clear this team is better than what they were about a month or so ago when they opened Atlantic Coast Conference play at 0-2. That’s good news regarding the future of this team as they hit the stretch run here in middle January.

While there was improvement all around, one player really caught our eyes and he did so in his season debut.

Sophomore guard Anthony Harris made his first appearance this season, coming off a knee injury he suffered in December of 2019. Harris only played nine minutes in the loss but did score 5 points and made both of his shot attempts. He provided a quick boost off the bench and watching him, the offense looked a lot more smooth.

Harris showed off his ability to facilitate the basketball through the offense and it appeared as if the offense ran better with him in the game. While he wasn’t playing the traditional point guard role, Harris still made an impact in the limited time.

The guard entered the game right as the Seminoles were on a 6-0 run to take a 52-43 lead in the second half. UNC was able to make a bit of a run and pull closer, even having a chance to lead late in the game. Harris also dished out three assists and drew two offensive fouls in his nine minutes.

The return of Harris was coming as fans and media paid attention to him in practice over the past few weeks. He busted his butt to get back and now he can play a big role moving forward with UNC’s season. With both R.J. Davis and Caleb Love playing majority of the minutes at point guard and shooting guard, Harris now offers another option for Williams.
