The UNC Football program makes the cut for this four-star defensive back that is among the top players in the 2022 recruiting class

After signing a 19-player class for the 2021 recruiting cycle, Mack Brown and the UNC Football program have turned their focus to the 2022 cycle as things start to heat up.

We are still over 11 months away from the Early Signing Day in terms of college football for the 2022 class but the North Carolina Tar Heels have their sights set on a few big recruits. Among them is four-star defensive back Daylen Everette, a player that is highly sought after right now and just made an update to his recruitment.

The four-star prospect who is a Virginia native released his Top 12 schools on Friday night, listing Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, Virginia, Oklahoma and North Carolina.

Check out Everette’s tweet below:

This is significant for a few reasons. Everette is ranked as the No. 65 overall recruit, No. 8 defensive back and No. 7 in the state of Florida per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. He recently transferred to IMG Academy where he will play his senior ball at next season.

Everette is a big recruit with a list full of really good teams. To see UNC on that list battling out some top SEC programs plus teams like Oklahoma and Oregon is huge. While UNC made the cut for the Top 12, there is still work to be done although they appear to be in good shape early on in this recruitment.

Defensive backs coach Dre Bly is leading this recruitment and that should be good news for Tar Heels’ fans. Bly has been able to help UNC pull some of the top talent at the position, most recently five-star recruit Tony Grimes. Plus, Bly has the Tar Heels in the race for other top defensive backs as well.
