A par of Tar Heels recruits take home Co-MVP honors at a 7-on-7 football event over the weekend in the city of Dallas as they get set to get on UNC’s campus

The North Carolina Tar Heels’ football program is entering 2021 with big expectations in terms of the new season in September. Following an 8-4 season with an Orange Bowl appearance, the Tar Heels are a rising team that has been ranked in the Top 10 by multiple outlets for their early rankings.

While UNC losses some key production on their offense including both running backs, the team is welcoming in a top 20 recruiting class for the 2021 cycle.

The class is headlined by a few Top 200 players including five-star defensive end Keeshawn Silver, four-star linebacker RaRa Dillworth, four-star quarterback Drake Maye and four-star receivers Gavin Blackwell and DeAndre Boykin among others.

But while the football world was tuned into the NFL playoffs and then the national championship over the weekend, a pair of UNC Football recruits took home Co-MVP honors at an event.

Both Maye and Blackwell were named the Co-MVP’s of the Inaugural Pylon All American Game this past weekend in Dallas. The duo stood out on the same team and took home the honors as they performed well.

The future of the Tar Heels’ offense is in great hands as Sam Howell enters his final year here in 2021 as the four-star recruit Maye will compete with 2020 recruit Jacolby Criswell. But they will also welcome in some talent at other positions, including the four-star receiver in Blackwell.

The duo could be the combo that Tar Heels fans will cheer on similar to what we have seen in Howell and Dazz Newsome and Dyami Brown. That’s still another year away for this 2021 class but it’s never too early to get excited.
