We take a look at where the North Carolina Tar Heels stand in the latest Bracketology update by Joe Lunardi of ESPN

The UNC Basketball program got off to a slow start in Atlantic Coast Conference play, falling to 0-2 with losses to Georgia Tech and N.C. State. But since then, the Tar Heels have rebounded with two nail-biting wins to move to 2-2.

The latest win on Tuesday night over the Miami moved the Tar Heels to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The back-to-back wins have given this team some momentum as they go through the tough months of January and February in the ACC.

But where do the Tar Heels stand in terms of the NCAA Tournament? Well, their stock isn’t where it was to start the season but it is still holding a spot.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his latest Bracketology on Tuesday and he has the Tar Heels sitting with a No. 10 seed in Region 1. The No. 10 Tar Heels would matchup with No. 7 San Diego State in the latest Bracketology in Region 1.

With the NCAA announcing that the entire tournament would be played in the state of Indiana, the tournament will now break down by Regions instead of East, West, Midwest and South.

In that Region 1, Gonzaga holds the No. 1 overall seed while No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 4 West Virginia round out the top four seeds. I should note that Duke is also in that region as a No. 8 seed.

This has been a tough year for the Tar Heels so far with the two ACC losses but their other two losses aren’t as bad as many think. They lost to a Top 25 team in Texas at the buzzer and then a tough road game against a then Top 3 ranked team in Iowa.

But if UNC wants to avoid that Region and a 10 seed, they are going to have to string together some wins here in the regular season.
