The UNC Basketball program has finally offered a player in the 2023 recruiting class as this point guard received his offer this past week

While Roy Williams and the UNC Basketball program navigate through a tough 2020-21 college basketball season, they are still paying attention to recruiting.

The Tar Heels have two players signed to the 2021 class and offers out to a few recruits in the 2022 class. But up until now they haven’t offered a 2023 prospect. That changed on Christmas Eve.

Class of 2023 point guard Robert Dillingham officially revealed that he had received an offer from North Carolina. His High School team tweeted out the news on Thursday night as Dillingham is now the first player in 2023 to receive an offer from UNC:

This shouldn’t come as a shock to many as UNC has been interested in the recruit for a few months now. Many thought it was not if but instead when the Tar Heels would extend that offer out to him. We wrote earlier this month on Dillingham’s hot play and how an offer could come soon from Williams and his staff.

Now that he has it, Dillingham becomes a very important early recruit for the Tar Heels on their board.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Dillingham is right in UNC’s backyard as a Charlotte native and plays at Combine High School. The sophomore is ranked No. 10 overall, the No. 4 point guard and No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports Recruiting rankings.

Landing in-state talent has always been a priority for Williams and his staff and Dillingham will be no different. While it’s still very early in his recruitment, he has a total of 9 offers right now and UNC could be considered the early favorites. However, like I said it’s still very early and a lot of things can change.
