Six Tar Heels Football players have been named to the AP All-ACC Teams for the 2020 college football season, the publication announced

The UNC Football team finished the regular season at 8-3 with an important win over Miami to close out their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule. Now, Mack Brown’s Tar Heels’ team is prepping for their biggest bowl game in decades as they are set to face Texas A&M in the 2021 Orange Bowl.

But before the Tar Heels play that game, some key players are picking up honors for their performances this season.

Six Tar Heels were named to the Associated Press All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams for the 2020 season. That includes five players on offense and just one player on defense.

The selections are highlighted by FOUR Tar Heels being named to the First Team All-ACC: running backs Javonte Williams and Michael Carter, linebacker Chazz Surratt and wide receiver Dyami Brown.

Quarterback Sam Howell and offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu were named to the second team per the publication.

Howell finished behind Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence for a First Team selection despite putting up better numbers. Carter made the team as a return specialist but was also a big factor in UNC’s backfield.

Surratt was the lone defensive player but was the Tar Heels’ top player on that unit. Last season, he was tied for the ACC lead in tackles and finished runner-up as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

Still, having six players make the All-ACC team is a huge accomplishment as the Tar Heels are trending into the right direction.

As preparation has begun for the Tar Heels and their Orange Bowl game against the Aggies, UNC has already had a few players opt out. Surratt, Brown and Carter all made the decisions to opt out of the game as they are headed to the NFL. There could be a few more in the coming days but as for now, those are the only three.
